Healthy Eating On The Road

Uncategorized Nov 09, 2019

Without the kitchen, a simple salad of pea shoots, avocado, plain yogurt and smoked wild salmon was my fast food lunch, made on the go from a few groceries I picked up.  If you pack a travel friendly bowl, you aren’t limited to premade groceries or quick fried food from McDonalds and its ilk.

Take a small lunch cooler sack and pack it with quick on the go treats.  Individual serving sizes of almond butter can be great with precut veggie slices you pick up at the store. This last trip I got my hands on cucumber slices and bought some salmon roe to top them.  Instead of getting something sweet from the vending machine, try having some freeze dried berries or dried bananas. Pack everything in a bento box for extra convenience on the run. Laptop Lunches (photo left) makes an affordable bento.

It sounds so simple and it really is. Pack some shelf stable favorites from home and stop by the grocery store when you arrive for a few fresh items. Take advantage of the hotel fridge and use a lunch sack or bento box for the day. Your tummy will thank you.
